I want to put a better rear then the 7-1/4" axle that's presently in my '73 Dart. I understand that the 8-1/4" is pretty strong (I'm running a built 318), but what cars should I be looking for as a donor?

1973-1976 Dart/Dart Sport/Valiant/Duster

A-body 8 1/4" rears are out there but are kind of rare due to the 4 year window... the best canidates I've seen are the 340/360 cars and oddly the Duster/Dart Sport with the 225/3 Spd on the floor car (3.21 open rear ratio on those...)

Be prepared that if you find one in a 318 car it may have a 2.45 ratio which means you will be having to buy a carrier/SG for it as the 2.76+
ratios use a different gear carrier...
