Hows it going my name is Chris and i'm new to this forum. i'm also new to the whole slant six community. The reason for this post is that i'm currently looking for a good company to purchase headers from for my 1974 Dodge Dart Swinger. Any information will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! What's your goal with the six in your car? Just curious because I've been over this with a lot of guys recently and the sum of my point is do your research with the slant! A simple bolt on of intake and headers don't open the motor up quite like a v8. So all in all good luck with your project. Also, if you haven't heard of Dutra Duals those are a nice outlet for headers.

What I plan to do with my car is first try and get my hands on a super six type set up. The reason why I was asking about the headers is due to the fact that yes a 2 bbl adds power, but its performance can be improved by something like dual exhaust. That is my first plan of action after that I'm not sure if I want to make my engine a stroker or not. I have plenty of to decide. But any input on this matter would be much appreciated.

Thank you again,
Chris

stroker
Is that a typo? Do you mean stocker or no typo and you meant stroker?
If its not a typo, I would not recommend that course of action.

But it's such a great way to get rid of all that expendable income with no tax write off!

Well, I don't know about the facts of dual exhaust helping a super six. So you'll have to give us a results. The stroker isn't necessarily a good idea on an engine that has one of the longest stock strokes in the engine world.
Have you built V8's in the past? Not jabbing or poking, it's just the questions seem to be that of a v8 background, which is fine. We all start there more times than not, cause it's what Americans learn on. Also, the first thing my uncle wanted to do to his small block was a stroker kit, intake, and headers. If your serious about the perofrmance of the six bolt-ons don't necessarily give you the best bang for the buck. Compression and cam will be a better investment over a stroker crank. There's lot's of information on builds. Search for Twiggy and Matrix Engine for some inspirations there. Have fun with your build!

:crickets:.... why?

I think it'd be an interesting thing to try. I've read through the article Doug wrote on building up slants like that, and the non-stroker "stroker" build with a 225 block sounded really interesting. Expensive, sure, but we can all dream and then maybe save up and really do it. I love thinking about all the different builds and things I could do with my car.. will I do it all? Most likely not, but you never know.. and it's good to know how to go about doing it all anyway. More knowledge = good thing.

I'm hoping I can get my Duster back by the end of this week, then maybe we can get together some time since I'm local and you can get a ride and see how a super six car with fat single exhaust is like vs. say a car with a 4 barrel and true dual exhaust....

(so far everytime someone gets a ride in my duster, they get the bug...)
