Pivot bearing and seal are missing I get a blank stare when asking for this This bearing and seal ride in the torque shaft mounted to the bell housing, which works the clutch fork. what to ask for where to get or suitable replacement for this? robert apparently a man of constant sorrow Excuse me it is an 1984 D-150 with a slant six of course! I am not a mechanic, but won't put my hand to something and do an obviously poor job(missing bits) Thanks for the pointers! robert |

You will have more luck getting answers if you tell us what kind of car and transmission you are working with. |

The Paddock has a kit of all the Z-bar ( Torque Shaft ) parts except the Z-bar itself. It's pricey at 75.00 but available if you can't find what you need elsewhere. The kits fits A-body from 64 - 76. I'd bet it will fit earlier as well but can't verify it for sure. |

Sounds like your "Z-bar"/ torque shaft needs a 'freshing up kit'... These only have two ball studs (one mounted to the tranny with a plate, and the other through the fender above the rail)... in side is just two plastic ratiners for the ball studs and on one side is a 'hairpin' that clamps into the little hols on the drivers side of the Z-bar... Try these guys, I put in a refresh set with studs into the '67 and the parts were of very good quality... http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?id=106 -D.Idiot |

1984 D-150 slant six of course, I got this truck just because of its drive train, slant six with manual and O/D. The previous owner it seems wasn't even as good a mechanic as I, at least I won't put it together with stuff missing. Thanks for putting up with my inexperience! robert |

| Post subject: | I got mine at the Mopar dealer, too |
Hello, I got all these parts from a local Mopar dealer. Not even very expensive. If you need the parts numbers, PM me. In town here is a Mopar dealership that has a staff member in parts dep't whose job is to know obscure Mopar parts and get them for you...very handy. Conversely he is good about giving you a part number when you drag in a part and want the number to look online. rock '64d100 |

When you do finally get it all back together, I always put a finger scoop of grease in each end of the z-bar before installing so it will self lubricate itself (some what) over the course of it's use... Good Luck, -D.Idiot |

about 10 years ago I used the Mopar Perf parts for the same job on my 79 D 100. It listed as being for an A body but didn't say "A body Only" nor was there a listing for the equivalent parts for any other Mopar, car or truck, at least as far as Mopar Perf was concerned. Bought the A body stuff anyways, and it was the same parts as my truck. For $75 those bushings had better be made of solid gold! |

Hey volars Don, I have a 79 D100 225 3-on the tree manual. Last summer I replaced the clutch, but still have a shudder and shake when starting out at low RPM in 1st gear.Would this be a z-bar or bushing problem? The clutch is adjusted properly and has a new clutch kit. Flywheel was resurfaced. It shuddered severely before the new"kit" but does it less now. Thus, the z-bar/ bushing question. Help from all much appreciated. |

| Post subject: | I had this problem and here's the cure |
Hello, I had the shudder problem. Naturally I first thought I had somehow gotten some grease or fingerprints or somesuch on the flywheel that was newly surfaced. Pulled it all apart, had it re surfaced, cleaned it with acetone, put it in with new rubber gloves, shuddered just the same. Pulled it back out, cleaned pressure plate and disc again. Shudder again....finally I used a dial indicator to see if true install as in the FSM....nope, that was the problem! rock '64d100 |
