Hi, my 73 valiant holley single barrel caburetor keeps flooding. i tap it with a 2x4 and the float bowl comes loose and it stops. but it needs to be fixed eventually or i will have a manifold fire, not to mention awful performance. question is, can i repair the float bowl without having to go to the expense of a whole new $200 replacement carburetor? thanks for any tips and parts sources. cshunley 62 valiant 73 valiant |

It sounds like the needle valve is sticking or the float is bad. Buy and install a carb. rebuild kit along with a new float and that should fix the problem. DD |

First off, I don't know anything about the inner workings of the holley single barrel carb. But, I had a similar condition with our Holley 390 4bbl and it was due to the needle sticking that adjusts where the float and fuel bowl level sits. Don't know if that applies to your problem or not but thought I would pass it along and hope it helps. |
