I was all ready to order some Magnacor's when I read at some Dodge 2.2 Racing sites some not very positive reviews of the Magnacors.

Aurora was highly recommended.

I am always ready to jump on the lastest fad, but curious about real world experiences.

I have tried many kinds and never seen a difference on the track. Just buy some decent 7 or 8mm wires from your local parts store and save your money for something useful.

Never heard of 'em. Might be good, might be johnny-come-lately with who knows what.

The benefits of plug wires better than the junk you can buy at the parts store these days isn't so much in lower ET's at the track, it's in greater reliability, better durability, and a little extra margin to improve other areas of the secondary side of your ignition system (as for example by using the long-tip rotor and opening up your plug gaps), which in turn makes the engine run better. A little better driveability, a little better idling, a little better fuel mileage...

Get the Magnecor wires and avoid having to think about plug wires for a decade or more.

Technocarb Equipment uses Aurora Electronics ignition cables in their propane conversion kits because propane systems need top quality ignition systems. Besides cables, Aurora builds high performance ignition systems.

I would not hesitate to use Aurora cables in any of my vehicles.

I note they show a different wire set for a '70 vs. '80 slant-6 application. Wonder what kind of boot they've got on the '70 set. I may have to put in a call tomorrow...oh, wait, they're in BC.

H'mm. I like these folks. They seem to know what they're talking about, and they say they might be able to come up with a boot setup appropriate for the drool-tube heads. I'm going to send them some samples. Stay tuned.

In defense of Magnecor, I've been very pleased with the quality of mine. While I've not been happy with most other brands of wires I've tried, I've not tried Aurora and can't comment on them.

Please keep me in the loop for drool tube wires as well. All of my slants are DT and we have 6 right now with 4 on the way to resurection.

The Summit racing brand wires I am using have the same spark plug boot and wire composition as the cut away view shows on the Aurora website. Mine are all blue, not red and cost me about $30.00 for a V8 kit, one end unassembled. I really like them and have had no problems. Really tough wires! Goes great with the Blue Streak cap.

I'm guessing when ya'll say "drool-tube boot", your talking about a boot with an integral "cover-disc"?? The reason I'm asking, My Beldan-Max NAPY wires have the discs, but they fit loose, and slide back down the wire. An intergrated cover would be nice...

That's because Belden use a cover disc originally intended for air cooled VWs, together with an ordinary plug boot. These have worked OK for me in the past, without the sliding problem you describe, but everything NAPA sell has been going downhill in quality at an accelerating rate, so who knows what they're supplying now. You could affix the disc to the boot at the right position with a dab of black RTV silicone.
