Post subject:  tranny options

I am looking at buying a 84 1/2ton pickup with a slant six. It has a three speed auto. I am not familiar with mopar. Is there a OD auto tranny that will bolt onto the slant six? Thanks for any help.

I believe the 4-speed 833 transmission was an option. The automatic probably has a lock-up torque converter.

Yup, if you go to the trouble to swap to a manual, there is a "bolt-in" 833 OD 4-speed unit.

There are some newer Mopar 4-speed automatics with lock-up converters, This may fit under the cross- member of your truck but it does not fit a passinger car, unless you cut-out and re-inforce the cross member area.

Note that you need a '60's truck adapter plate (slant six to SB mopar trans) in order to bolt the late model OD autos to your Slant.
