Need to ship an aluminum 225 short block (block, crank, cam, timing chain and sprockets, rods, pistons, bearings, bearing caps) and can't access Doug's paper article on the weights of various 6 components (from an old Slant-6 News magazine). Anyone (Doug?) know what this weighs? For that matter, anyone got any bright ideas on how to ship this?

Dan,

Crank is 75-80 lbs, rods/pistons are 3-3.5 lbs for each set w/bearings + rings, block w/caps should be around 100 lbs, but not totally sure about that. Cam is about 15 lbs. T-chn around 3-5 lbs.

Hope this helps,

Lou

My notes and "match-book cover" math came-up with 185 lbs., just a pinch less then what Lou came-up with. (the block with caps is about 88lbs.)

Lou's 200 lbs. would be "safe" for a shipping weight.
