hey dan,

do you have a rooted/dummy block lying around?? it would pay to check all the machining has been done properly before fitting it.

theres been the occasional case where people have ordered kits (ive only heard of it in supra conversions, but you never know) and the drillings off, or something like that.

I have a block bellhousing and t-5 all lying around to mockup... my only concern is I must find a 240mm (9.5 inch) long input shaft.- I don't know what application these were found in? (Any ideas)-He said Buick??? The t-5 I have lying around is out of an s-10 pickup. So we'll see what is left to do when it arrives... I'll keep you guys posted...thanks for the support

Word is that you can use the 5.0 & S-10 unit if you make and install a input shaft "nose" extension piece.
I am told that the clutch disc splines are in the correct position for a Mopar conversion but the input shaft tip is shorter and made for a smaller pilot bushing. This can be resolved by a machined extension with the added length and OD for the Mopar pilot, combined with an ID to press-onto the current T-5's tip. (make it .002-.004 undersize and then heat expand it befor pressing it on)
This all makes sense and should work fine as long as everything spins "ture" when finished. ( there is no real load on this section of the shaft, it's just for location / support)
If someone out there has the "lay-out" or measurments on this special tip, let us know.

keep us posted. I want to do the same thing to
my cars. I'm working with a couple Mustang 5.0 T5s. You should be able to measure the spigot/pilot adapter so it can be reproduced. I think the 5.0 shaft is about an inch shorter than the 833.

What was the cost of the kit? I talked to them some time ago and they said that if someone was to order 10 of the kits that there would be a major price break. I'm not sure what major is? He said the kit cost $350 Aussie, but I don't know what that is in US. Maybe there is enough folks out there to join together and get the discount?

I was told that the kit cost $250 Australian and that the 9 1/2" input shaft is common to GM (Buick) V6s.

I think the major component is a bearing adapter which extends the snout. We could probably measure this part, it might be economical to have a machine shop make up a batch.

I dont have the specific meaurements for a T5,,,but used this process to put a Ford RAP 5 speed in my Valiant....I just took the Valiant box and the Mustang box to my machinist,,,said "make this one look like this one"...it helps to have a pilot bushing on hand. I also had to have him machine down the input bearing retainer to take the slant throwup bearing,,,,and more importantly match the register in the Valiant bellhousing. It cost me about $60 US for machine work,,,use the 5 speed clutch disc and Valiant pressure plate.
The bellhousing modifications and rear mount are the difficult parts of this swap.
Still not sure why you guys dont just jump in,,,is it hard to get a good machinist?
