Sounds like fun, Kev. Hope you find a close-by Slanter to join you. Charlie or Cecil near there?

Charlie said he'd join me if he can make it down last time I talked to him. It feels good to have a running car again the strip is gonna be fun. I forsee traction problems though at the way it's been launching i'll let everyone know how i did after test n tune day.

Thanks, Kev

I can't make it this week. Got a lot of work to get done, during the day, and need to do some property maintainance, in the evening. Seems, like someone, bitched about my cars (I think real estate people, as some places are listed for sale). So I have to clean up some parts, (rear ends, and core engines, that are outside) and get one more vehicle running, then I can tell them to buzz off.

Nice work! Car should feel pretty good! Low 10s on your first motor job in a street car is very respectable. What are motor and car specs again?

Kevin has made a lot of progress, running really good, right out of the box. Now, let the tuning begin.
Trying to get him to the slant race at Valdosta Georgia.

My 66 Valiant is only running 9.5-9.6's at 68-69 mph in the 1/8 on motor. My car is much lighter at 2680 lbs race ready. I think the reason mine will ET quicker is, I have gears and converter.
There you go, Kev. Time to spend more money  , mid 9's here we come :)

Thanks my second best race was
r/t .011
60ft 2.31
330 6.58
1/8 10.21
The engine has a 270 erson cam on a 108 lobe instead of the 111
bored .40 over
.100 off the head
new crank etc.
new rods cleaned up a bit
head has stainless oversize valves and ported
3000rpm converter
cliff headers/cliff intake/390cfm 4bbl holley
stock 2.73 (or something) gears no posi 255 rubber with some wheel spin off the line
I was launching at like 2500 to 2700 i think i can load it up more i was worried about it burning out next time i'm gonna try and load it all the way up and see how it goes. the motor is running a little to lean i'm gonna step up the jets and i think i need a bigger pump shooter with sligt hesitation.
Thanks, Kev

Great work. You have a good package there. Good call on the 108 LSA too with that cam. Any idea on car weight? Must be pretty decent head porting.

With street tires, I usually do one big burnout (even pegleg) at the start of the day (plenty of smoke, 18 sec or more) to get all the hard, oxidized rubber off, then it hooks better with a mini burnout each time to clean em off.

i've got some videos i'm gonna figure out how to put them on youtube i'll let yall know and i'll post them i'm gonna have an in car video next wed.
Car weight i'd say 3000 maybe?
Ya i didn't think i should bother with a big one tire fire so i just passed the water box mashed half throttle to spin the tire some then lined up brought up the rpms then launched on the 3rd yellow
http://www.youtube.com/user/1974dusterkev i only got 2 videos up now

Usually, I pull down the block a little before I give 'er...

Actually, I did have a neighbor in NC who would really do a good size burnout right in front of his house w/ his '68 Mustang. He drove the car about once ever 6 mo, and every time it sounded like he was really mad at the car...

I do believe i'm going to go to the track again this wed. i changed my exhaust this weekend i'm putting new life into some old road runner exhaust. Gotta weld it up and hopefully it'll sound better then my first videos. jets are coming monday gonna tinker with those to richen it up so who evers around come to sunshine.
Oh before i forget i've wanted to ask this question the cam guy told me that 108 lobe center would give me rump so i said of course but what does it actually do? did it change my cam at all like duration or something?
Thanks,kevin
