I am looking for a '64 or earlier air cleaner base for my 1bbl. air cleaner. These have a smaller overall diameter than the later ones. Also, I have misplaced the large harmonic balancer bolt during the engine rebuild of my '67 225 SL6, and would like know how to replace it (and/or the particulars on its dimensions, washer?).

The bolt should be a 3/4" fine thread by about 1" long. None of the motors I have even had one in it, but I always put one in. Dennis

I have a few of these early air cleaners, I will drop you a email. Using one of these early bases with the later top is a cool airflow trick, really opens-up the access to the filter eliment, same as flipping-over the top cover on the later air cleaners. ( I am not sure if the engine really runs all that much better but it sure does *sound* like it is, the intake roars like you popped-open the secondaies on a Thermoquad)

As for the damper bolt, how can you loose something that was never there?? ( the damper is a "press fit", the factory never ysed a bolt) Grab one off a BB Mopar or better yet, buy one at the hardware store. Always check to be sure the added bolt head / washer thickness clears the fan blades or you will be in for a rude surprise when you fire it up.

There are some slant 6 engines that came with a damper bolt installed from the factory. Usually with manual transmission or certian belt driven accessories. Somewhere I've seen info about that in a official Mopar publication I have here.

Good catch, I was thinking early stuff, (64) If you could find that service info, that would be cool. I do remember seeing crank bolts on some of the post 76 cast crank engines, usually holding-on a big cast iron pulley. It would be great to figure-out what years / models this bolts can be found on. ( sounds like it's time for a trip to the junkyards)
