I just ordered a air conditioner from Vintage Air for my Valiant convertible, but they do not have a compressor mounting bracket for the slant 6. Does anyone know if later slants came with the Sanden style compressor? lancer_41@excite.com |

1978-up cars and mid-year 1979-up trucks used a radial AC compressor instead of the RV-2. It is referred to as "C-171" in my 1987 truck service manual. I thought there was a C-131 or something like that too. I do not know if they are Sanden or Sankyo or other brand units. You'll have to do some more research on that one. cfield@ll.net |

I was told that a good AC shop could make any compresser fit any engine by fabricating a bracket. I will need to do the same for my 80 Volare. Also, isnt a C-131 a military cargo plane?! ktbarnwell1@juno.com |

So, I've got more bracket than I need. Did your Volare come from the factory without AC? If so, maybe you and I could swap brackets, what do you think? Let me know, the AC won't be going back into my Volare. Just let me know, Wes wes.moeller@compaq.com Blues 2 Joy wes.moeller@compaq.com |

Did your's have the "newer" style compresser?(ie cylindrical). This is the type they sell with aftermarket kits. Otherwise , it might not work. What other items is your bracket currently supporting?? AIR pump?? I am interested in swapping brackets if it would benefit us. I have a digital camera & can send a pic of mine. Where are you located? I am in Salinas, CA. ktbarnwell1@juno.com |

This bracket is helping support the power steering pump, and is connected to the water pump as well. That's about it, my car has no AIR pump. Like I said, I've got more bracket than I need. I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera here at work, I'll let you know. If you can send me a couple of pics of your bracket, that would be great. I'm pretty sure we should be able to bolt these brackets right into our cars. Anyway, I'll see if I can get a hold of a camera. Talk to you soon, Wes wes.moeller@compaq.com Blues 2 Joy wes.moeller@compaq.com |
