| Post subject: | another issue...dying when not on throttle? |
I think I already have a pre-existing condition here: when I am in Park, the car idles fine (most of the time....all the time when warm). Drive or reverse, however, it shakes the crap out of the car. Timing issue? Since rebuilding the carb this weekend, everytime I start the car, it's initial startup is huge, it seems almost WOT for a second. Before I rebuilt the carb, it was a normal startup sound. Anyway, yesterday I drove around for a while, no problems. I think it's been running a bit rich my nose tells me, but otherwise nothing. But last night was a different story. About 57 degrees outside, so not too cold. I couldn't stop at a stoplight without stalling. Further, without my foot on the throttle, I could see my dash gauge backlights dim. But if I held my foot on the skinny even ever-so-slightly, it would run fine and not stall at lights. My alternator's gauge reads just under 12 when no throttle applied while stopped at a light, and between 12 and 14 when gas applied either stopped at a light or driving. I would think my idle is not okay, but then I guess I have to factor timing. Anyone seen these symptoms together? Anyone know what I can do to remedy my problem? Thanks. |
