I adjusted/checked the valve settings on my 69 - 225 and they were off a little, according to what the "book" says to use.
The book says .012 intake and .024 exhaust.
That's what I tried to accomplish and I think I got them all close.
Is this correct? Or should I use a different setting for a motor with at least 196,000 miles on it?
I was thinking that if I got them too tight they might burn a few things or I would loose power?
Thanks for any info,
Talk at ya later,
Dan

.012 & .024 is a bit on the loose side, factory cams set at .010 & .020 but I tend to run the exhaust on the loose side (.021 - .022) to be safe.
If your .012 / .024 setting sounds OK (not any loud ticking sounds) then you may want to run it for a while, then recheck / re-set later. I do not think you would see any real performance difference between the two settings.

Search the messages for "key word" valve adjustment (all) and review these posts for more info.
