Hey guys new to the forums havent been on since the other big /6 site had its forums removed... anyways thanks in advance for your help, heres my problem...
about 1 or 2 winters ago a seal (i think) broke on in my tansmission during the winter, i suspect because of freezing of water or condensation inside the tranny. it lost about maybe a cup? of fluid i havent run the car since becasue of a dead battery, when i cheked all the fluid levels yesterday it looked to be just fine but as i said the car wasnt on so it might be inaccurate, other than that the car SHOULD start and run just fine but i have no rear brakes because i am in the process of changing the lines, and also the motor will turn by hand just fine as it was turned every few weeks by hand to make sure it didnt seize...
can anyone shed some light on what could have happened? and how do i fix it
PS. I am only 16 and this is my first car and other than a moderate mechanical knowledge I don't have alot of experience with trannys...

). It might be that the fluid drained out of the torque converter, while the car was sitting. This would over fill the trans pan, and could possibly leak from the dipstick tube, the selecter shaft seal, or the pan gasket. I would start the engine, select each gear, and then check the fluid. If it shows on the dipstick (with the engine running), let the trans warm up, and recheck level, add as required. Then see if you still have a leak.
