I would like to try one and see what happens. Do you think it would be a bit small for Eileen's 258ci spinning at least 6000rpm? According to Holley the 570 Advenger I have should be perfect. According to there website I really shouldn't use a double pumper. They recommend a 3.70 rear gear and a 3100lbs or less car to not use there vacuum secondary carbs. I am 3400 lbs and have a 3.55 gear, but I have a low 1st so its like I got a 3.7 something gear, so I would be good there. What do you think? 390 to small to mess with? I like the double pumper idea to get rid of these lean bogs. I also see the offer a 600 and 650 DPer. To big?

I would really think that your engine is a very good candidate for using different boosters than your average holley. i would recommend annular boosters for your application, so you can use a bigger carb (wich would be good for top end) without hurting low end, atomization and such. Perhaps a smaller double pumper would be easier to tailor to your needs than a big vac secondaries carburetor. Also, since you have the hemi thing going on... wouldn't this be a good time to think about going MPEFI with a good user programmable ECU? in the long term it would be cheaper than messing with carburetors.

I sold the Hemi to a buddy of mine. He's going to put it in a 68 Dart that is a start from scratch project. I have spent so much money on this slant that it really doesn't make sence to backup and spend again. So you bastards are stuck with me. :D
Annular boosters? I assume they help with signal and help the mains come in sooner? I read there was a specail tool for installing them. Whats involved? Is there a down side to them?

Which carb is most people running that is putting them in the 14 second range?

Have you tried running it yet? If so hows it set up and what did you install in the high speed air bleeds. I just installed the same one (NASCAR) today. I've done a little tuning on it and one thing is for sure. This car has NEVER jump out of the hole like it is now. However, it looks like its going a pinch lean in the upper rpm band.
Ohh, does your still have the throttle blades in it with a hole in each one? I had to change them out for solid one because with both shafts closed completely, it still idled at 1500rpm. :shock:

if you had to go back to solid blades instead of "pierced" ones, your idle / transfer circuit is really dead on, wich would explain the lean pinch upstairs. Are we talking about the keith dorton model? if so, reduce the lowest emulsion jets on the metering block. How many do you have installed? the bottom one might need to be solid... and sometimes I leave 8counting from the bottom) solid - emulsion jet - solid - emulsion jet and fromt here up, emulsion jets. Other approach might be reducing the main (high speed) air bleed on the carb's body

Just looked over the couple of logs I have and I may have jumped the gun with my quick interpretation. After looking again I would have to say that the results are inconclusive at this time whether its going lean up top or not. I hope it is and not going rich because I already don't have high speed air bleeds installed. Don't know how to get any bigger than that.
I need to find a long up hill on ramp to take a blast up.

you mean there's not high speed air bleeds removable insert installed... do you have any hole there (at high speed bleed location?) if so, and if you have a good fractional or decimal drill bit set (even wire gage) what's the diameter of those?

your metering block aiin't has the replaceable emulsion jets. That's a BIG improvement. Josie225 got a nice metering block for around 60 bucks. That combined with the air bleeds should give you plenty of fuel curve tailoring fun.

This picture is what I've got. Those holes in the center (X4) are threaded and air bleed could be threaded in. Tomorrow I am going to get some good data logs and see whats up.

specific P/N for the one you're running? that would be lean if that circuit hasn't been evened for running with no high speed bleed whatsoever.

I'd try to either install a bleed on the carb body or removing the last air bleed and replace it with a solid plug they sell for that.
