Tim K had a question on converting a Big Block Mopar fuel Pump for use on the SL6. Below is a pic of a pump I converted a while back. This Carter fuel pump has big passages and 2 inlet valves. (stock units have a single valve)

One thing I did was rotate the inlet body and added some hard line fittings so I would get better access to the ports.

You need to swap the arm out of the stock Carter SL6 pump into the BB unit. I used a shim between the arm and the pump's plunger rod. This took-up some "free play" at the end of the pump's stroke which resulted in a lot of clearance between the cam eccentric and the arm's contact pad, when it was on the back-side of the eccentric. ( it will still work without doing this but you will get less total pump stroke)

I also did some passage "deburring" (porting) while I had the pump apart and added a flair fitting to the vent hole if I ever need to apply boost pressure to the backside of the diaphram.

This pump delivers 7 lbs of pressure at low / part throttle speeds and drops to 3-4 lbs at the end of a quarter mile full throttle blast.

I picked up my new pump today. It's a Carter pump, and I specified the high volume high pressure model. It doesn't look like the one in this picture. The body halves are crimped together. It was a $24.00 pump. I've gotten the information about switching the operating arm, but no one bothered to mention that the pump will now be upside down! Now I have to re-bend my fuel lines to make it work. I'll work on it tomorrow. I'll have to Dremel grind out the crimps holding the shaft in place. Then recrimp it with a high tech hammer and screwdriver. Or maybe a chisel.
