Post subject:  63 Dart: temp & fuel gauges too low

Hi guys,

All of a sudden my temp and fuel gauges are too low.

The temp gauge gets to about 1/4" from the left and stays there even though the radiator seems at normal operating temperature. I haven't tested with a meat thermometer yet.

The fuel gauge indicates only about 3/4 full after filling the tank all the way. I'm pretty sure it drops towards zero as gas is consumed since after the previous fill-up it came down so fast I thought my tank had been siphoned. However, I haven't tested this yet.

About 2 months and 1000 miles ago I replaced a Taiwanese $15 electromechanical VR with a USA $60 electromechanical VR32 Echlin which solved an overcharging problem. The charging system still checks out OK.

So, what's the likely cause and what should I test next?

Go to the Electrical section and look at a couple of current threads on guages. I believe you have lost ground or Your IVR is shot.
