I would say its fuel. I just replaced a Holly carb that was doing that. Yes on the gasket match but dont go deep on the match, maybe a 1/2 inch. My02 Frank |

Hello Blacksheep! I match ported to an Aussie gasket. I did it on an old head to see how much I could go. I did all intake and all exhaust and made them trumpet shape to match the gasket. Upon thinking to myself, "man, I am GOOD!" I decided I didn't like a slight scratch from the burr on the inside of #6 exhaust. Like, way on down in the rectangular port. One pass and the water jacket was opened up to look just like you had marked it with a black magic marker. Rats!! So I know you can port like to the gasket even though there is no future in doing the exhausts, but if you work too much on #6 at least, I know you will regret it! rock '64d100 |

I got rid of any overlap from the intake going into the head. I placed a few of layers of masking tape over all the ports on the head, installed the intake, snugging down all the nuts, let it sit for a bit, and could see the impression the intake left on tape. Most of the ports had only one side overlap. |
