Hey All,

I've been dealing with Polar Bear Inc. for my AC stuff so far. www.polarbearinc.com

They list two gasket kits for the Chrysler V2 compressors

http://www.polarbearinc.com/PBPC/homepa ... tml#Anchor

GA 4391KT and GA 4410KT and call them both "RV2" kits

My assumption is that one is a V2 Kit and one is a RV2 kit. Further I am thinking that the: GA 4391KT is the V2 kit and the one I need for the Dart.

I am assuming this b/c it has a diamond shaped gasket for the low side, and an o ring for the high side, like the compressor on my dart has.

Can anyone confirm this?

The lady I spoke to at Polar Bear isn't sure, and I don't want to depend on that!

Thanks for any info!!!!

Cheers,

Chris E.

V2: 9.45 cubic inch displacement, flat-top pistons.
RV2: 10.5 cubic inch displacement, pistons have scalloped valve plate reliefs.

Originally A-bodies all had the V2, but the "remanufacturing" junk factories can't resist screwing up everything they touch, so they claim they're interchangeable, so who knows what you've got now.

There were gasket, seal, and hard-part differences over the years, particularly pre-'76 vs. post-'77, so it's a good idea to get at least a rough idea of when your compressor was made (or else hope the rebuild kit has all the possible gaskets).

Hey Chris, good luck on getting that compressor ID'd

For what it's worth Polar bear is a good company in my experience; They had a condenser for my 79 volare when no one els could find one and my stuff runs real cold now - I use a c 171 compressor on the 79 volare.

PS how's that old slant runnin' that I sold you?

Greg

Crap. I figured this would be a pain in the butt. I'll keep digging.

Greg, yes the slant is in the 66 Valiant (currently for sale) and is running fine.

Thanks again,

Chris E.
