Hi There

I am bussy cleaning up the underside of the 68 fb cuda - removing underseal, treating surface rust, ruberising etc.

Removed my fuel tank for some beauty treatment - and to reach the bits hidden behind the tank - my fuel sender was much worse for wear - 40 years will do that to a mechanism.

The contact on the reostat was gone, the float was coroded through - I think some galvanic reaction ate the float - the tank is fully galvinised!! - think sme water in the tank the brass float, and the zinc coating ate it up!!

What to do - a new SS unit costs 127usd, a ms one 70 odd and with the current exchange rate...... Locally between 750 and a 1000 rand

Walked into the local autoquip - saw they had a generic VDO made sender

To make a long story short - I removed my sender unit from the tank flange mounted theirs - I replace the rheostat - and it works like a charm

Looks stock and it works - will post pics
