What would it take to up the bolt pattern on my 72 duster?

A disc brake conversion and a rearend swap would do it... or have all your current parts re-drilled to the larger bolt pattern... but that is not the best way, especially if you have the small 9 inch brakes.

Well Doc I have all drum on my car my only thing is the bolt pattern for a slant six duster is much smaller than a normal 14inch wheel my neighbor said I could just replace the part the bolts are attached to?

Your car has what was called the "small bolt pattern" (usually called SBP) wheels. There are still quite a few choices for rims and such for these, but nowhere near the choices available for the "big bolt pattern" cars.

As Doc said... Start hunting the boneyards for a '73 or later Valiant, Dart, Scamp, Swinger or Duster with front disc brakes. Then do the disc brake conversion. Of course, while you're at it you can swap the rear axle. You'll end up with a safer ride, and the big bolt pattern you're looking for.

Yes.. the LBP rears have fatter axle tubes, and usually come with 10" rear drum brakes... (other wise you are going to have your axle shafts removed and welded and drilled-not the safest option, including new drums with the correct bolt pattern... and for the price of that you probably could get a nice BBP 8.25" rear out of a Dart/Valiant/Duster)...
