Got my lash set at 20 i think.
I was gona hook the compression gauge up to see if my math is OK. 3 pairs of jumper cables in parallel couldnt turn over the ministarter with much quickness. But i was able to read 160PSI. Tonight i ran 1G marine spec cable from the trunk to the starter. Ran some more 1G wire to the frame for a ground. I stick the gauge in #1 and the rest have plugs. Go to the back and hit the battery...think spins over hella fast now. I go back up and it reads 180! The little chart says thats 10 to one and the motor hasnt even been run yet! I dont have manifolds on it yet if that matters... To high?

Its a fresh 30 over block with unknown pistons and the "little isky" cam. I cut 60 off the head but i dont know if the block was decked or what.

Timmy says his is a 9-1 motor and was at 200psi. Chad's is an 11.7-1 motor and his was 160psi, mine is a 10.8-1 motor and mine is at 160, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Cranking compression depends a lot on how the cam is set up.

180 PSI cranking compression sounds pretty good to me. Get it running and fine-tune it from there. My bet is that it will run great on premium pump fuel and about 30º total "full load" spark advance.
If it pings to much, pull the head and "cc" some out of the chambers or add a thicker head gasket.
