I completed my first slant six it has: 8.4 compression ratio .060 of the head 3.460 bore 198 crank and rods stock pistons with cast rings Stock cam bumped up to a true .44 intake lift at valve degreed and set 3 degrees retared stock valves with hardened exhast seats ported intake and exhast runners super six intake and exhast gasket mached to head Carter bbd from a v-8 pre emmissions stuff Stock timming chain All for a total of $275 machining, piston pressing, valve job and mill $280 Engine rebuild kit with piston and oil pump $40 Cam regrind $55 supplies (silicone, paint, ect.) _____ $650 give or take $20 Not bad for a fresh engine. Looks great! You may want to re-think that big steel fan, those "eat" a bit of power and make a bunch of noise. My car actual cooled better at freeway speeds with a smaller fan. DD |

its going in a 64 barracuda with a 230 3 speed full syncro. its going to be a driver and fun car for my wife to take to local shows. Right now the body is rough but very little rust and I hope to get it painted and start assembly buy late september [/quote] |

I split the overlap and retarded it three degrees from there to hopefully gain a litle higher end performance. I'm not sure being that it is a small overlap if it will make a bunch of diffrence. I'm just playing with what I have to make the best of it with out laying out the cash for a hi-porformance cam. I also may put automatic in it later if my wife gets tired of driving a stick. |

It feels good to have it all together. But I can't put it in the car for awhile and hear it run. I am debating mounting it to the k member and making and wood frame to start it on the ground so I can break it in and set he valves when hot. But more importantly hear it run. |

Just jumping in. Nice job, I'm thinking of painting my engine body color, and i think the valve cover idea will catch on. |
