Post subject:  question about p/s belt and a/c belt.
Took the first drive this year with my Duster today:)

The belt to the ac snapped and when it did it also snapped of the belt to the powesteering. That p/s belt is not broken though.

The ac has been dry so I never use it anyway. Should I replace the belt anyway?

How do i get th p/s belt on there again, is there a way to move the p/s pump so I can get that belt on again?

Besides the belt trouble everything was great though! Springtime in Sweden and the slant fired right up after the winter!

There is a bolt on the PS pump kind of between the block and the pulley you loosen to move the pump.

if your not using the ac, then why put the belt on... if thats the only thing that belt is powering

I dont know how the a/c system works really, so i just wanted to be sure that I dont damage the thing.

Is this above or under the ps pump? It's really tight space there so I couldent really see to good from above which bolt it could be.

Just one bolt to losen and the thing should move?

Usually there are 2 bolts that hold the pump to the bracket a pivot bolt and a locking bolt. You need to loosen both of them to adjust tension on the belt. you need a 1/2" drive ratchet to add tension then tighten the locking bolt while holding tension then you tighten the pivot bolt. I would post a pic but I don't have power steering anymore.

ac has a clutch, just like a car wit a stick. when its not running: all the pulley is doing is freespinning anyways...

Thanks once again. Turned out to be an easy fix with some guidance from this exelent site!
