So, I will be putting a 2 bbl intake and carter carb on the /6, my question is, are all carter two barrells the same flange size? Or is there a bunch of different flange sizes? I thought about buying one off ebay but the guy says it only fits a 318, I thought a 2 bbl was a 2 bbl. Thanks in advance. |

There are two different flange sizes for the 2bbl carbs. The small one was used on 6-cylinders and small-block V8s. The big one was used on big-block V8s. A 318 carb will bolt onto a slant-6 intake, but there'll be choke linkage issues to work around. |

if dan is nice he will post the link to the carter manuals. one of them in particlular gets into detail the differences betwenn the 318 and /6 version. the way they explain it seems to be that the 318 version is way ineficiant on a slant. but thats just me talkin outta my @55. |

No it'll work, but the choke linkage is meant for the 318's choke thermostat not the odd angle of the super six stat... so he'll have to either:a) use a manual choke cable b) find a super six carb and swap the part c) make a workaround Also some of the carbs have holes in the throttle plates and this may or may not affect the idle/etc... depending on the engine's build -D.Idiot |
