Post subject:  Hyper Pak PCV Valve?

I know on the 170 engine and on the 170 hyper pak there was no place for the pcv valve, there was a oil breather that ran down the side of the motor, besides there was no fitting on the 3083 there was a adjustment screw instead.

My question is:
On the 225 hyper pak what did they do to cover the hole on the tappet cover where the pcv valve would normally be? Did the just block the hole on the pcv valve?

On the carburetor what is the front adjustment screw for? The one between the 2 idle mixture screws.

Also what are the advantages or disadvantages of not running a pcv valve?

Provisions for PCV were made via what was attached to the valve cover, not by modifications to the engine itself. Pre-PCV engines used a road draft tube. Engines with PCV had a PCV valve holder attached to the same place on the valve cover where the road draft tube had previously attached. See this post for info on the different valve covers over the years. Carburetors either did or didn't have the inlet nipple for PCV depending on the intended application. There was not an adjustment screw "instead of" a PCV nipple on the carburetor. All carburetors have mixture adjustment screws.

There is no disadvantage to the PCV system, there are only advantages. See this post and this one. PCV was brand new in '61 when the Hyper-Pak was discontinued, and in the '61 model year in North America it was standard equipment only in California (though all 1,008 '61 Valiants sent to Australia to be sold as R-models were so equipped). So of the very few cars equipped with Hyper-Pak kits, only a percentage of them would've had PCV to begin with, and it was probably simply removed and discarded as a poorly-understood "widget" for which no provisions existed on the Hyper Pak carburetor.
