Just thought I'd throw this out there (probably common knowledge to the vets). While online the other day I was at a site, forgot which one- allpar maybe? I was reading an interview with an engineer who worked on SL6 valve trains of the 60's era. He mentioned that a quick way to tell the difference between the 170 & 225 is that the hose connecting the water pump to the head is about a 1/2" for the 170 as opposed to about 2-3" for the 225. Anyway thought this might be useful. |

We already knew that (plus we have more info on our little mill than allpar... which occassionally seems to have a not so new nugget of joy when it comes to info...) in fact I was junkyarding the other day and saw a 170 and the hose clamps almost touch each other....-D.Idiot |

IIRC, Joshie225 is looking for a (uncut) later 170 crank, the one with the large flywheel hub.If that 170 is still in that yard someone might do a busy Mopar bro a favor and get that crank before it's sent to China.I'd do it if I weren't so dang broke |

It doesn't have to be large hub, but it would be nice. I wonder what the yard would want for it and if I should make the trip down? |

Don't forget that Ed Yost @ Wildcat has an adaptor ring for those early flywheel hub(s),don't know what it costs. Wildcat ph#503-668-7786 just remember they close Sunday AND Monday;Tuesday IIRC they are there but don't answer the phone(s) but that may have changed. One could leave a message and/or e-mail. |

Yeah, but that adapter ring is to put an early transmission behind a later engine. It doesn't do a thing to fit a big hole flywheel to an early crank. |
