What should the proper torque value be on valve cover bolts for a 225?

According to my FSM, 40 inch pounds should do it!

Nice to see another Marylander online :D

I never use a torque wrench on any of the sheetmetal "covers". Usually the cover gets bent and / or the gasket gets distorted when factory torque ratings are used. (rated to go on once and not leak)

You want just enough tigntness to get a seal and to keep the bolts from vibrating loose, so snug them down, then give the bolts another 1/4 to 1/2 turn, working from the center out.
Inspect for leaks and recheck tightness after a couple of days, If the bolts are loose or leaking, snug them down a little more.
