I took my duster out for a drive and while I was driving it the accerlerator pedal got stuck and I couldnt stop. I could slow down but not fully stop. So I got home asap I was luckily at the front of my neighborhood. When I got home I put it in neutral and the rpms went way up. So I shut it off. I got out of the car and the brakes were smoking. How can I fix this? Is there anything else it can be besides the pedal being stuck?

Take the air cleaner off and look for the problem and report back. It's an awfully simple system. Also look down the carb and make sure nothing is down the carb holding it open. Carter BBS carbs have an issue if the choke linkage comes loose it can keep the throttle from closing.

Could be a broken throttle return spring. Happened to me going down a mountain in Vermont. Didn't know the old Valiant could go that fast.

My friend's Dart had a simalar problem several years ago, the accelerator cable had started to fray and was hanging up in the housing.
