ive had this problem pretty much since i got the thing, if u kick the gas to fast it will kill the motor for a second then start again, also sometimes while the motors warm and you come to a stop the car just dies, and sometimes not so easy to restart. im not to mechanically inclined and still consider myself new to these slant sixes. but i really would like to get her running and where im not afraid to drive it. would appreciate any help i look to start doing what work i can to it really soon. thanks oh and its a 225 slant 3.7 1bbl

We really need the year car and motor to know what carb might be on it for specifics.

Many things can cause this, such as a poor accelerator poor pump shot, low timing, stretched timing chain, low voltage to the coil, a poor or failing coil, etc...

With the engine off you can look down the carb (with the air cleaner off) and push on the linkage like stepping on the gas to see if there is a pump shot, (gas squirting out into the venturi) then you can rule that out and go to the next item, like timing.....

That should have a 1920 Holley carb on it. They are alot easier to rebuild and setup compared to the 1945 Holley that came on 1974's on up.

See if you get a good healthy squirt and let us know..
