Has anyone used the McLeod Pressure plate setup for the slant six? I am interested in upgrading my 9" clutch and pressure plate when I install the New 3.09:1 Tranny in my car this winter. I would use the factory "Borg & Beck" 10 inch HD SL6 pressure plate listed for Vans, Taxi & Trucks. This unit will bolt right in and can be ordered with lot's of spring pressure. (shoot for 2400-2600 psi) We used the Weber 10 inch for the Hot Rot Mag build-up. (I think Weber is now part of McLeod) This is a F@%d 10 inch unit and it gave us some interferance problems, we fixed it with a grinder. The unit works well and has taken a lot of abuse. Here is a PIC and a link. DD Weber Pressure Plate Install

I had a stock pressure plate that exploded many years ago. It destroyed the block ,Belhousing, transmission nose, as well as putting a nice window up through the hood and right beside my foot. Luckily I wasn't hurt. But that event has always stuck in my mind. Now twenty years later, my son and I are putting together a slant six car that he will be running a 4-Speed in. I worry that a repeat of a clutch/Pressure plate failure at 6000 RPM could have a much worse outcome for him. We will be buying a new clutch/pressure plate soon and would appreciate your comments: I know most of the racers use an automatic transmission, but some do, or have used, a 4-speed. What are they using? What type of clutch/pressure plate did Seymour run for all the years he ran a 4-speed? Anyone ever try to use an automatic transmission blanket around the belhousing area for some protection? Thanks for all the great info on this site. Rick rcovalt@innernet.net |

I bought those very parts from Steve at Hot Rod a few months. The fly wheel, clutch, pressure plate and bell housing in that picture. I can't wait to get it all together. Mike MAndreas@aol.com |

Thanks For all of the helpful info, Now One more question. Does the McLeod pressure plate with the borg and beck 10" Taxi/HD Clutch bold up directly to the stock flywheel, or Does a special one have to be made/ Ordered? Thanks, Greg Ondayko Quote:

If you use the Borg & Beck 10" pressure plate and clutch disc together, it all bolts-up to the stock flywheel. DD |
