Anyone know how far these headers hang down ? I am running a Mopar 6 into 1, but I have a new set of Super Comps I thought I might try out if they dont hang as far down as the MP header. THat MP header runs good but the collector is down quite a bit, I would like to lower the car some so I need to do something. Side shot pics of the bottom would be nice if you have them. Or if you have run the two types a good compairison would work. I expect th epower might be better with the SC headers over the 6 into 1, but that probably depends on the engine build itself also. I started to sale them but my son is wanting me to run them, I hate to if they are going to crash every speed bumb I hit. I should have done some measurement of the 6 into 1 before I put it on so I would have a reference to fitment. If I pull them I will check both sets four height measurements, but I hate to pull the header to find out they are worse than what I am running. Jess |

I also (had) run the Mopar 6 to 1 header but gave up on it as a streetable header and am also curious how the Super Comps compare. The Mopar header would seem to be (theoreticaly) much torqier at the bottom RPM with the Super Comps a LOT more top end oriented. The MP6 to 1 collector diameter is 3 inch single ; the Hooker 5 inch total area(2 1/2 x 2) which alone means more top-end potential even if joined & reduced by a 2 x 2.5 into 3 inch y-pipe. My project is a 225 in a '80 2-dr Volare w/4bbl Clifford int man/390 Holley, auto trans for now but I have the parts to do a 833-4spdOD swap as well as a 8 3/4 set up for FMJ Iso-clamp leaves.I also have the Super Six 2 1/4 exhaust which actually runs pretty strong but headers can yield so much more if the system is well matched. |

I ran an MP on my Duster for a couple years. Only time I ever bottomed it was when I was missing a bumper off the driver's side lower A-arm. I ran my front a little lower than stock height. I have a set of Super Comps too. I have not had them in a car, but have seen them in many cars. IIRC, they do not hang quite as low as the MP header. |

I put these headers on my 1978 Volare. They hit the brake booster so I had to modify the rear tuce.I cut it and shortend it a 1/2 in. and moved it a little forwards.I don't think it'll hurt thr performance. They slightly touched the deep transmission pan so I bent them a little bit for clearence. These were supposed to be a bolt on for my car but as with everything else it took a little modifing.I wouldn't reccomend buying a set already jet coated because you'll more then likely have to do some modification. They hang down a little but I can't forsee any problems unless you're not paying attention.I posted a few photos on flicker.com/photos/emptypockets/ Hope this helps you out |

Thanks for posting, the link doesnt take you to pics, it goes to the front page of the site. I did a search for emptypockets and emptypockett but nothing came up. I am not sure how they fit a Volare will relate to putting them on a 68 Cuda. The collector exits would probably be the same, but the engine bay will be diff. I dont have power brakes, so it sounds like thats a plus for me. If you get the link to your pics figured out I would like to see them though, any under car shots would really be good. Whats your thought on the power curve they gave when installing ? What other engine mods are you running with them ? Did you tie them into one pipe with a Y-pipe going back or run true duels ? I know my Mopar performance 6 into 1 header hangs really low on my Cuda, but it doesnt hit the tranny in any way becuase it comes out right through the crossmember exhaust cutout. Jess |
