Where do I find an oil filter lid gasket? I got a complete gasket for my motor and it's not in there. It's the removable cartridge type filter. |

I think if doing a hi-po truck build... now is the time to deep six the cartridge canister and change to a standard filter, especially if you are thinking of using a HV oil pump.... good luck, -D.Idiot |

Ok, I'll do it. Is that just a matter of removing the unit installing a spin on? When I got the new pump, it came with a male/male adaptor screwed on where the cartridge fits. I had to remove it order to fit the cartridge case on there. I assume that piece was for spin-on filters? Also, what spin-on filter do I get? Do you recommend a particular brand of filter? |

Yes, that male adapter is for the spin-on filter. Wix 51515 napa gold 1515 for (most common) standard size filter. If you want standard filter with built in standpipe then thats wix 51806. If you want the higher capacity one it would be wix 51773 or napa 1773. |

H'mm. What makes you say a spin-on filter would be better? I can't think of why it necessarily would be.Replacement elements for the can-type filter usually include a complete set of new filter-related gaskets, as long as you're buying a good brand like NAPA Gold #1076 (Wix #51076) |

SL6 Dan suggested trying a Wix 1806 about a year ago, (was running the Wix 1515). Since I switched I will never go back. I get 50 lbs. oil pressure immediately on start up with Mobil 1, 0-30W oil. I running a stock oil pump with no mods to it. I built my engine a little tighter than most, per Doc's "torque and mileage" build plan. I took a little more care on break in, but it was worth the time. |
