Anybody know anything about them? Been backyard wrenching for 40+ years and I've never heard of them |

Sure he heard you say CAM bearings? I don't know about O/S ones available for the slant (Doc/Dart 270/Charrlie S would be your best bet) but I recently saw an episode of one of the car resto shows (might have been Hot rod TV it was one of that type of show) where they did a similar thing on a furd motor; one of theirs has all 5 cam bearings the same size thru the block and another has one bearing that is the same ID but larger OD and they showed line boring the block for these other bearings; I believe it was the 390 that had a spun bearing and something like the 2nd from back bearing on a 460 that was the same ID as all 5, 390 bearings with a slightly bigger OD; If they came up with such a solution on this particular engine, I'm sure that's not the only such case. If your engine has a problem here, get ahold of a bearing CATALOG (yes paper not on a computer screen) and go to the back buyers guide section; often you find technical specs of all the given parts the company makes and can find a workable solution, to salvage an otherwise scrap block. It may be cheaper for you to find a non damaged block to start with. |

Yup,repeated 3 times,"we're talkin cam bearings?",answer"yes, standard size in stock, oversize is special order".My block should be ok,just dealing with a spun cam bearing and now confusion on this oversize thing |

I have seen the listings also but never had to use any. I am unsure if the oversize is the outer bearing shell or the inner babbit surface. Personally, I would not go through the expense to jig-bore a cam line so it would except o/s bearing shells... I would find another block or a think of a different way to deal with the problem.
