hey guys, im wondering if any of you can point me to the TRW stock numbers for suspension parts. I'm specifically looking for the TRW numbers for rh+lh lower balljoints and the upper balljoints, but have only found moog and mevotech numbers on the net.
perhaps if we get a comprehensive list of the best currently available suspension parts and numbers we can update the part numbers section of the site. thanks~

H'mm. Donno where to look for TRW numbers. I'm also not sure it matters any more; my distinct impression is that as with most other parts that sell slowly due to low demand, all of the front end parts available for our cars are made by one company and bought & boxed by a variety of vendors. It might be a different company for ball joints than for idler arms, and it might be that one American company supplies such-and-such a part to the whole rest of the industry or the whole industry buys it from Cheng Woo Guangdong Traffic Industrial Concern, but either way, I'd be really surprised if it's still possible to get more than one kind of any given front end part for our cars, no matter whose box it comes in. :-(

OK, ive put in an order for three moog balljoints and one TRW lower balljoint, just due to local availability problems. the TRW is about 20% greater in price. i will report on initial quality and track any wear differences between the two brands on this thread over time.
for reference's sake, the TRW numbers are as follows:
moog K-785 = TRW 260-1058 qty. 1 (RH)
moog K-787 = TRW 260-1059 qty. 1 (LH)
moog K-704 = TRW 260-1044 qty. 2 (upper)

keywords: a-body '63-'73 balljoint upper lower LH RH drum brakes TRW MOOG.

Here's the TRW unit. I'll be picking up the MOOG parts when the PM order comes in, a couple hours. time to get dirty!
nothing alarming that i could see here, the balljoint is too tight to pivot with my hand.

will post pics of MOOG parts when they arrive.

OK. Moog parts.
My first impressions of them are positive, what i found nice about the boots is that they are reinforced with metal rings at both openings and three out of four of them on two boots are cast right into the rubber. the lower balljoint arm is definitely a heavier casting than the TRW, and the upper balljoint ball assembly has spiral grooves cast into it for flushing grease. on with the pictures:

so far, not bad!
but what a hell of a time ive had finding a socket to do the upper joints with. still no success. i will have to order one, if anyone has a part number or brand name to look for please post it here. i am in canada, but american brands and stores will be helpful to the others.
