Hi, this is my first post. The forum is great and I've read a lot of it. My Dad had a 62 valiant with a slant six, and I've always been a fan of the motor. My first car was a 69 Charger R/T, 440 4 barrel. I sold it in 99, worst mistake I ever made. And now...

I have a 68 Charger that came originally with a 3 speed on the floor. It is supposedly one of two. The car has an automatic in it now, but the hump is complete, and the pedal is still in the car.

I just bought a beautiful OD trans that had been in storage for 15 years. It came with the hurst shifter and shift rods (and the rubber boot and trim ring!).

It did not come with the bell housing, so I need that and everything else I don't have. Can you guys tell me what I need? I'm about to buy the bellhousing that is for sale on the forum right now (http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29939), it has the z bar from an a-body, will it fit? If not there is an 82 pickup at a local yard with a slant six and a 4 speed. Maybe I could get the parts there. I'm dying to drive this thing fast on the freeway. My 69 had a 3.91 rear and would scream at highway speeds. With the OD I'll be able to cruise all day :D

Again, great board. Can you guys help me out?

Thank you,

John D

You have a slant six charger?! That is cool! Never ever change it!! I would suggest that the best place to find what you would need would to be to make a post on moparts.com asking for slant six specific b body stuff. Im not sure if the Z bars are the same between a and b body though???

That's an expensive bellhousing especially considering the bellhousing and fork are the only parts you can use. You might be able to use the Z-bar pivot for the bellhousing, but then again, maybe not. If you want a bellhousing with all the hardware (clutch fork, boot, dust cover) I'll sell you one for $60 plus shipping. It's dirty, but fine otherwise.

I won't change the Charger. I'm going to have too much fun driving it the way it is, good mileage and everything. Besides, it just doesn't seem right to change anything.

Joshie225- PM sent!

Thanks for the replies!
