Would it be impossible, would it be tricky, to put my 2 1965 A-903 trannies together into one good trans?

One has a bad 2nd gear and the other has a bad 1st gear.

Are there some demanding alignment procedures on assembling these transmissions?

Thanks

Post subject:  No not really...

these are easy trannies to work on, as long as you check to make sure the tolerances are in good shape... I remember a buddy putting one of those together for his final in high school shop... it took him two class periods to get it all back together and one period to clean the parts and box up...

you will have to find a gasket kit for it...

The hard part will be pressing the bearings and gears off the shaft... a Harbor Freight press can go a long way to help...(that's why I borrow my buddy's)

Thanks. I didn't know if maybe first and second were both on a cluster, therefore un-switchable. I have a press I copied from HF, only it's a lot stronger then theirs.

BTW, if I'm pressing anything on I guess old marks will show where to press to?

According to Car Part.com these guys have a 1979 Volare with a 3 spd tranny for $50... if it's all original it would have the 3/4 speed bellhousing for the A-833OD, and for $50 a nice synchro 1st gear A230 would make a much better 3 spd to swap in rather than 'building a box'...

just keeping an eye out 'fer ya...

A belated thanks. An odd configuration on my computer is preventing me from seeing new messages unless I take special steps. I happened to look at this even though it was telling me I wrote it! I'm trying to find out how to change the setting.
