Hello all, I was wondering. Is the LA 904 converter the same as the slant 6 904 converter? Is the flex plate mounting the same? I ask because I was looking at a higher stall speed, and didnt see anything about small block or slant 6 spacific. Thanks for the info!!! I am hraded out to pull the 4 speed in my 67, and replace it w/ a rebuilt one.....w/o broken shifting forks.LOL Andrew |

The converters interchange as long as they have the correct nose and splines. The '68 and later converters are bigger of nose and larger of input shaft with more splines. |

Just remember, a converter for a v-8 will will stall less on a slant. Most converters have a stall speed rated for a v-8. If you see a 3,000 rpm converter, it will stall less on a slant, maybe only 2,500. The torque of the engine will have a large effect on stall speed. I have a race convereter that has a 3200 stall speed on my 170 engine, but will stall 4,000 with my 225. That same converter would probably stall over 5,000 with a 360 engine. |
