i have intentions to rebuild my engine.but i have no idea how to lift the engine from the car.can someone steer me the right way to go about this. bigman6969170335@aol.com |

You should rent a portable host (also called a "cherry picker") or a hand operated cable winch. (sometimes called a "come-along") If you are planning to leave the transmission in the car, you need to disconnect all the engine to trans mounting bolts including the inner flex plate to torque converter bolts. (behind the sheetmetal dust cover) Support the trans. from the bottom with a floor jack. When everything is disconnected and the engine is ready to pull, use a chain or a strap on the forward threaded boss on the top of the head, in between the valve cover and manifolds. (see the photo below) These days I like to find a different engine to rebuild in advance and / or swap-in into the car in one work session, that way I don't have the car sitting in pieces for weeks as I rebuild the engine from the car.
