I'm fairly new to all this so please bear with me. I've just bought another '65 Dart which has come with a engine and trans out of the car. It's an earlier 3 freeze plug block, I've been told it was running fine when it came out of another car a couple of years ago. The engine in my other Dart leaks like a good'un and imminently needs attention. It's a later 5 plug block. My plan for the white Dart that's on the road at the moment is to fit a freshened up 6 with possibly some go-faster bits. The other Dart is going to be V8-ed in the end. I've been reading up a little (as we all know a little knowledge is very dangerous!), and I understand that the 5 plug block is stronger and better to modify. However I don't really want to take the car off the road to rebuild the engine - it would be much easier for logistics to rebuild the engine already out. I don't intend to race the white dart, it'll be a road car but I'd like to make it a bit quicker. So, over to you guys - what would be the best engine to use for this exercise and what would you recommend I do??? Thanks Jeff |

A lot of the really fast racers (10s - 12s) have used the 3 plug block. Unless you are planning on big HP (boost, N2O, high RPMs), then I wouln't hesitate to use the 3 plug block. Either are fine. Lou |
