Post subject:  Aluminum Flywheel Question

This is only barely slant-related (I'm using the group buy as an excuse). A friend over on moparts.com posted this question, and I said I'd forward it along to the experts over here:
Quote:
I saw on one of the Spike TV car shows (Horsepower, I think) that when they bolted up an aluminum flywheel to one of their non-Mopar projects, they used some sort of steel ring under the flywheel to crank bolts. I think it was supposed to help distribute the bolt force over a wider area, but I've never seen that before so I thought I'd ask. Anybody ever had to use something like that with an aluminum flywheel?
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea. Is he just talking about washers (duh), or a machined ring that has holes in it for the hub and the 6 bolts.

You might make one of these from an old flex plate.
