I just had a thought, Could I use the stock A/C compressor hoses, etc. but use an after market (vintage air, southern air, etc.) under dash heat/cool unit like this or this? What year A/C compressors, and other A/C equip. would work? My heater core is shot, and I would like A/C, but cant find a whole origional under dash unit for a 73+ A-Body. |

Yes, use the stock factory underhood components, and have new hoses made up to fit.

What about mounting the new heat and A/C box, what do I have to do? |

Any idea who makes new hoses or can make copies of original hoses?

Mounting of the heat/A/C unit requires fabrication work, with custom mounting brackets. You do not want copies of the original hose, they will not fit the aftermarket evaporator. Any full service A/C shop should be able to fab custom hoses. I do that on a regular basis. |

This place has complete in-dash/under-dash kits: www.nostalgicairparts.com I haven't tried one, but I am probably going to eventually use the under-dash kit. |

How would you hook up an under dash unit? Bolt it to the dash? Another question, what compressors/parts could I use for this? I am on kind of a budget, and I know 73-76 A/C parts are pretty hard to find, and I could pick up a complete set from a junk yard for about $50 out of, lets just say, a chevy or somthing. |
