what transmission dose a stock 74 225 slant six have its an auto (sorry i dont know) and what manual tranny would hook up to it? thanks

A-904 3 speed auto tranny.....

Options for your car would have been limited to the A-230 column or floor shift 3-speed with the slant six....but you can swap either of the 4 speeds or any of the earlier 3 speeds into the car, but you'll need the pedals, linkage, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, etc...
