| Post subject: | Richmond gears or the economy set?? |
I have a daily driver that is getting a bad howling in the rear gear set. I tore it down on Friday and there are no obvious bearing problems or bad wearing of the ring and pinion. Well, since it is tore down I have been thinking this is a great time to add the gear ratio that I thought should be in it anyway. If you look in Jegs, Summit, Etc. They sell the name brand gear sets and "their" gear sets usually for about $40.00 less than the name brand sets. Do you think that the machining is better in the higher priced sets? Is this a case of getting what you pay for?? And if so, what do you think is the quietest brand name out there??? Thanks |
