Anyone notice any difference in performance in the different brands of regular unleaded gasoline? Say for instance Chevron vs Shell? bwhitejr |

I've not noticed any marked difference between brands of gasoline. However, as I travel a lot for work, I have noticed that the gasoline in different regions of the country performs very differently. Most notably, oxygenated blends of gasoline DO NOT get along well with my pickup(01 Ram 1500). It doesn't mind the occasional 10% ethanol mix, but oxygenated gas gives me what feels like less power, as well as about 10-15% less mileage. |

One thing I did notice the other day when working on the race car. I bought some BP 93 for it a month or so ago. I keep it in my sealed fuel jugs. When I was changing carbs the other day the fuel that was in the cell and carb was very cloudy. I don't recall ever seeing gas do that before. The stuff out of the jug looked OK. I'm wondering if the stuff in the car drew moisture? Maybe there's more alcohol in it than they let on? Or maybe the station I bought it from is pulling a fast one. |
