My 1971 Plymouth Scamp has the Super Six engine. The engine runs rough while idling. The minute you touch the gas, it smoths right out and runs like a charm. All new Plugs, wires, carb and dist. Any ideas? Runs wonderful out on the road. All new vaccum lines also. Ping |

A moderator may move this to the engine section. Use the search function for hesitation and I think you will get some great answers. Welcome to the board, Frank |

A rough idle can be caused by tight valve lash, especially the exhaust valves. Time to pull-off the valve cover and adjust the valve lash. Do a search on "valve adjustment" for some tips on how to do the job. DD |

A valve adjustment is an excellent idea. Here is a post about how to do it. What kind of "new" carburetor are you using? Where did you get it? Is it really new, or is it a "remanufactured" item? Same question on the distributor. |
