Hi all,

During disassembly for major engine overhaul I found that one of the starter's mounting ears is broken.

It's the left (driver's) side ear as the starter is installed, the one that mounts on the stud.

Viewing the pics below, you'll see that it's broken in such a way that it still effectively rests ON the stud, only a chunk of the bottom has broken away.

Since the starter's weight still 'rests' on the stud, is it necessary to replace the starter or can I just put a washer on it and call it good?

Thanx guys!!

From the looks of that starter I'd replace it anyway.

Seriously, if you are not concerned about the general condition of the starter, just put a washer on it and fuhgettaboutit. :D
