is there any gear sets out there that will fit the 2.45 carrier or should i be looking for a different carrier with gears already in it? |

You can get different gears, but the only other gearset to fit that carrier is a 2.26. my buddy had one in a 80 Mirada and the JY rear I put into my Moms 84 5th avenue did, too. 2.26 and a sure grip. with that tall a gear it didnt really need the SG! (talk about a dog and thirsty in town; that car rarely saw highway time) but in your case since you can't mix rings and pinions it won't necessarily matter if your replacement carrier had a ring gear on it or not; you gotta buy a gear SET if you want it to work right. Putting the ring gear onto the carrier is the easy part. |
