Post subject:  Fuel Economy from a D-100 Truck??

Hey!

This is my first post on this board. I'm a 29 year old hot rodder from the Philly suburbs. I'm mostly interested in roadsters and motorcycles, but I have owned several slant sixes (all Darts) in the past and am thinking about getting another one as a daily driver. I was a member of the Mopar Mailing List in the late-90's if that still exists.

Anyway, my neighbor just picked up a 1985 D-100 "miser" package truck. It has a slant six and an 833 o/d trans.

I'm in love with it... tons of old man patina, just beat up enough to be a work truck, but not too ugly either (well, some would say it was ugly from the start!).

What kind of fuel mileage do you think this truck will get? It has 140,xxx miles on the clock, but looks to have been pretty well maintained. What kind of mileage could it get with a few modifications (new carb, ignition tune-up, exhaust, etc)?

He mentioned that he'd be willing to sell it....

Thanks,
Ed

I found the answer to my own question.

Out of 5 threads, the low mileage figure was 3 MPG and the high was 23 MPG. The arithmatic mode seems to be 18-20 MPG, with a few "tuned/tweaked" setups caliming 22 MPG.

Here are links to the relevant threads:

my 82 /6 4 spd gets erratic mileage some tanks 12 mpg, some 17.i'm sure it is the crappy lean burn system acting up.i plan on ditching it and doing a few upgrades with an aim to a consistent 17 mpg or better.

Check out this thread for a brief synopsis of how I got my brother's 1983 Dodge shorty van to get 20-21 MPG on the highway.
