Post subject:  Electric Choke Assembly

I bought a new electric Choke assembly for my 73 Holley one barrel. The seller said part number 3656730 fit the 73 Darts/Holley carbs. When I received it I compared it to the original choke assembly and it is different than the original:

Original assembly stamped HOLLEY 6434 51 (on three separate lines)
New assembly stamped HOLLEY 6932 49

Original assembly has two bolt holes to mount into the well.
New asembly has one bolt hole and where the second hole should be is a bent tab obviously to insert in a hole on the well.

Original assembly choke arm goes up to the carb and makes a 90* RIGHT-HANDED turn.
New assembly choke arm goes up to the carb and makes a LEFT-HANDED 90* turn.

Did I purchase the wrong part number? If so what is correct part number to match HOLLEY 6434 51 casting?

sounds like the 2bbl choke

No, it's not the 2bbl assembly. It's the '74-up 1bbl assembly used with the Holley 1945/6145 one-barrel carb. There is usually clearance on the Holley 1920 ('73-down) to use the '74-up choke, and the single-bolt-and-hook setup makes no difference. But the full electric choke kits work better than the original-type units.

Dan I read the post in your response prior to writing this question. If I do the conversion, where do I order the kit, and will the choke assembly have two holes to mount in the well similiar to what I have now?

Will it come with a new Control Switch or do you use the old switch?

How will it affect the engine's operation? Remember I live in Louisiana and the temperature here rarely dips below 63* (I think that is the temperature the electric choke assist was supposed to give a more rapid choke opening).

Thanks for you help.

By the way the new choke assembly also has a slight bend in the arm. The old arm is completely straight up to the 90* bend.

Isn't the CarbsOnly link still in the article?

Nope, pretty sure it's the one-hole-one-hook arrangement.

Comes with new everything, all of which is better designed than the factory junk...and fully adjustable, so you can dial-in however much choke action you need (or don't need).
